How to get back into care successfully

Life situations change - be it due to the birth of a child, a move, illness or other experiences. As a result, it sometimes happens that people move away from a job that they actually love. Here you can find out why you should return to nursing and how to master it.

Concerns before returning to nursing care

  • 1

Was my 'time out' too long?

No. No matter how long you haven't worked in nursing. You are needed! After a long break, we will support you in your day-to-day care work until you feel safe again.

Is my knowledge still up to date?

The SBK offers refresher courses for those returning to nursing care. Financial support is also available. We will be happy to advise you if you are unsure whether you need a refresher course for returning nurses.

  • 3

Is it possible to return to work part-time?

Yes, if your life situation does not yet permit a 100% workload, shorter working hours are also possible. If you look after others, you must also be able to look after yourself.

  • 4

Can I start in another area of nursing care?

That is also possible. There are numerous courses available for the necessary qualifications. Let us know your ideas and we will be happy to advise you on further training options.

    Private or public Spitex?

Of course we want you to apply to us, and we have very good reasons for this. But hand on heart - you are welcome everywhere, and the right choice also depends on your life situation. A private Spitex can offer you more flexibility and personal responsibility, while you can generally expect more consistent working days with a public provider.
