Billing care services via health insurance companies

Insurance cover in Switzerland is excellent. This means that 90% of the costs for medically prescribed care services are covered, regardless of which insurance you have.We are recognized by all health insurance companies and your co-payment is low, although it varies from canton to canton. Additional services are charged according to the tariff sheet.

  • What is Spitex?

    The term "Spitex" is only used in German-speaking Switzerland and is an abbreviation for home help and care. On the one hand, this form of outpatient care at home is cheaper than inpatient care. On the other hand, it is of course much more pleasant for the person being cared for to remain in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible and to be cared for there.

  • What is the difference between private and public Spitex?

    In Switzerland, Spitex services are offered by public providers, private companies and independent care professionals.

    Thepublic Spitex organizations are commissioned and financed by the municipalities and cantons. They have a care mandate and therefore also a duty to ensure that every Swiss citizen receives the basic care services they need, regardless of their place of residence, age and social class.

    Private Spitex organizations also provide the necessary basic care services, but also more flexible, versatile and comprehensive services in the areas of nursing, care and housekeeping. Their clients are the clients themselves or their relatives.

  • What is Special Spitex?

    In addition to "classic" Spitex, where outpatient care is required due to age or accidents, there is also special Spitex, where special needs and therefore special knowledge or behaviors are required due to medical conditions. Special Spitex includes the following:

    Dementia, psychosocial care, oncology, palliative care, paraplegia, care for children and adolescents.

    For these cases, the employees of a Spitex organization are continuously trained in the professional handling of the special clinical pictures as well as in the areas of housekeeping and care. This is the only way to meet the special needs of clients with special care requirements.

  • Are the costs of private Spitex covered by health insurance?

    Regardless of whether you choose a public or private Spitex organization, around 90% of the costs for consultation, basic and treatment costs are covered by health insurance.

    Depending on the canton, the patient must pay a daily rate of CHF 7.65 in Zurich and CHF 13.35 in Aargau. Depending on the deductible, additional costs may be incurred until the deductible limit is reached.
